Meet Your Home "Chefs"
There never was a couple who bickered more about food than Jason Stock and Ashlee Mason, humble residents of Fairpark, Salt Lake City, Utah. We like to cook, eat, and talk about food, so after some requests from friends, we've decided to share some recipes, techniques, local restaurant reviews, and try to entertain you at the same time. Bear with us while we learn the ins and outs of the INTERNET.
Jason's history with food and drink runs long and deep. He previously owned a deli in in the early aughts, and has since become on of the top beer brewers in Utah. He's been the Brewmaster at Squatters Downtown Pub since 2012, but his real passion is food...from sandwiches to pozole to curry, his creative zen energy in the kitchen is the reason we started this site to begin with.
Ashlee's passions have always revolved around world history, food, travel and writing. She worked in the bookstore circuit for seven years, and has been a paralegal for nearly nine years (if you're interested in expunging your criminal record, hit her up). She is also a freelance writer in Salt Lake City, having covered the local stand-up comedy scene for a period, and occasionally writes humorous articles for SLUG Magazine. Erected on January 1st, 2019, this site will be admittedly barren-looking in the early days as we fill it up with content. But don't let that stop you from coming here everyday all the time! What Are We?
Okay, we started a food blog in 2019. Yes, we might as well post content on papyrus scrolls, but we needed a place to record our experiences with food, and here you have it! We're not afraid to pick apart any recipe we find that LIES to you about cooking times or ingredient substitutes. We also check out restaurants and markets around the Salt Lake Valley (and the greater world occasionally), although we're a little partial towards the Fairpark-Rose Park area of Salt Lake, and anything ethnic anywhere. Join us opinionated weirdos as we navigate through this experiment. We don't know where we're going with Ya Burned It, but we DO hope you enjoy it along the way!
